Show-Benders presents auditions for “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog! LIVE”

OPEN TO TEENS AND ADULTS

Auditions will be held at The Potomac Park Community Center on Bluebell Ave, Cumberland MD (Drive up the road past the gate, and parking will be on the right across from the baseball field).

AUDITION DATES: May 4th and 5th from 12 pm to 8 pm on both days

SHOW DATES: July 5th-7th and 11th-14th at Keyser High School!

The short musical revolves around Dr. Horrible (Billy), an aspiring supervillain who documents his villainous schemes in an online blog. In his quest to make a name for himself, he receives a letter from the Evil League of Evil, instructing him to murder to gain acceptance. Despite holding a “Ph.D. in Horribleness”, Dr. Horrible finds killing to be the one thing he cannot bring himself to do. As Billy, he encounters the girl of his dreams, Penny, at a Laundromat. Complicating matters, she begins dating his nemesis, Captain Hammer. The narrative unfolds as Dr. Horrible strives to join the Evil League of Evil while also attempting to win the affection of Penny. Will he succeed?

-CHARACTERS-

DR. HORRIBLE (BILLY) - Dr. Horrible is the "villain" and the main protagonist who aspires to join the Evil League of Evil. Dr. Horrible is the alter-ego of Billy. (Audition Song: Brand New Day)

PENNY - The love interest of Dr. Horrible (Billy). She is a volunteer at the Caring Hands Homeless Shelter. (Audition Song: Penny's Song)

CAPTAIN HAMMER - The main antagonist who works against Dr. Horrible. Although he is rather unheroic, thoughtless, and self-centered, he is socially perceived as a superhero, and according to Horrible, is his nemesis. (Audition Song: Everyone's A Hero)

MOIST - Dr. Horrible's "Evil Moisture Buddy" and Henchman. (Audition Song: Nobody Wants to be Moist)

***BAD HORSE CHORUS (3) - A group of Cowboys who sing the contents of Bad Horse's letters. (Audition Song: Bad Horse)

GROUPIES (3) - They are big fans of Captain Hammer. Later, become fans of Dr. Horrible. Are featured in the song "So They Say" (Audition Song: Any Musical Song)

*NEWS REPORTERS (2) - Are featured in the song "So They Say" (Audition Song: Any Musical Song)

*MOVERS (2) - Are featured in the song "So They Say" (Audition Song: Any Musical Song)

*MAYOR - Oversaw the dedication of a statue to Captain Hammer. (Audition Song: Any Musical Song)

**PINK PUMMELER - He is briefly seen with Moist while Moist is trying to call Dr. Horrible who is too busy plotting Captain Hammer's murder to pick up. (Audition Song: Any Musical Song)
